Gehenna was a trash heap that burned outside the city of Jerusalem continually in the first century and before. This repulsive place provided the LORD Jesus Christ with a perfect illustration of the finality of lost men and women. Prepared for satan and his angels, Gehenna is the final resting place of both death and hell (Hades). The word 'Gehenna' has a history. What can we expect to have came to mind in the original hearers? In this series we will trace the concept of Gehenna back into the Old Testament and explore the wisdom of God in preparing such a place to quarantine and punish evil for all eternity.
